Hello everyone,
Please look at the attached figure corresponding to Ce3d of gadolinium doped CeO2. I got two peaks positioned at 919.4 eV and 916.1 eV. However, for Ce4+ we get only one peak between 916-917 eV.
The 2nd peak at 919 eV is very unclear to me. Can anyone please guide me for the same. The peak was confirmed by running the scan for two times.

Very interesting question.
I wonder if the 2nd peak at 919 eV may be related with the splitting of the characteristic satellite of Ce4+ at the high binding energy side associated to some differential charging effects.

At first sight, perhaps you may have two components from oxide and hydroxide in a conducting region of the surface and similar groups on other more isolating region of your specimen.

This looks like you have very clear charging issues. There would be NO other peak for Ce around the 916 eV peak. Your O1s peaks show a very similar charge pattern to that seen in the Ce3d spectra.
