Sometimes we get a hexagonal type of feature in the SAED pattern, i.e. the spots are arranged/positioned in a hexagonal shape.

In this case how do we calculate the d-spacing and find the crystal planes?

I use imagej software for the d-spacing calculation, by putting a circle on the spots and determining the diameter and then the d-spacing. Can I use this same method when The spots are non positioned in a circular fashion, in case of hexagonal or straight line nature of the SAED spots?
