Polymer Flooding

1.    If we need approximately 10 tons of polymer-containing water,

which requires to be injected - in order to recover -

just one ton of crude oil, then,

how much wastewater is expected to be produced

in the case of

(a) nearly homogeneous and isotropic sandstone reservoir? &

(b) with a significant heterogenic and anisotropic sandstone reservoir?

2.    What does it indicate, if we happen to observe

partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) content -

from the produced wastewater -

to remain to be - greater than 500 mg/l?

Whether such produced wastewater

could be treated with ease,

given the fact that

HPAM not only remains associated with

increasing the viscosity of the produced wastewater –

but, it is, also associated with an extremely high molecular weight,

which ranges over several million Daltons?

3.    How efficient are the currently used approaches

such as

gravity sedimentation,

coagulation and

filtration -

towards removing oil droplet and other particles -

from the produced wastewater

(if the wastes remain to be highly emulsified and have enhanced stability)?

OR

Should we go ahead with biodegradation or any advanced oxidation processes?
