Dear all,

As you know, there are many publications regarding active and reactive power control in a wind energy conversion system. For instance, decoupled active and reactive power control of a DFIG using vector control, etc. My question is in regards to the conceptual and also practical points of view: The generator can output active power which is approximately equal to the turbine output power (neglecting the losses in the electric generator). So, what do we mean by active output power control of a DFIG? It can just produce an output power which is approximately dictated by the input power to it. What is the practical importance to control the active power output of the electric generator in wind energy applications taking into account the fact that the power output value in dictated by the wind speed, Tip Speed Ratio (TSR), air density, etc. ?
