If the JWST and other telescopes working in conjunction with the latter were to resolve the question of the nature of Dark matter, and if it transpires to be nothing to do with undetectable tiny particles, but instead a gravitational effect as I am convinced must be, then that shroud provide us with a deeper insight into why mass attracts other mass, of which we currently have no acceptable notion or explanation.
Once the nature of this all pervasive force is understood, then a great number of other major unknowns should also become explicable as a result, Mach's principle just for starters, and hopefully the composition and structure of the universe will become more apparent.
After such a breakthrough, a rationale for on which I have been striving sporadically for too long with limited success, then advances will be made in large numbers of direction, assuming all this occurs soon enough to stave off the perils of extinction by global warming and/or power hungry misanthropic despots.
