Some technical standards still recommend the use of transition slabs for bridges, even though several countries have developed new types of transition zones incorporating elements such as technical blocks, soil-cement, and unbound granular layers. Research has shown that if the material placed over the transition slab is not properly compacted, it may lead to permanent deformations, reduction in slab thickness, and eventual structural failure. What is your opinion on this solution?
