I have seen in several qualitative studies, primarily those including some sort of content analyses (including thematic, etc.) that researchers report the number of participants whose responses included such content/theme.

What do you think of this?

How are such numbers meaningful?

Why would they be important?

Might such numbers be misleading (and misguided) in their quantitative approach to qualitative data?

Thank you.
