What do they reflect? Is a multiple authored paper good for the field and the individual researcher? Do they show the competency of every single author?
Are they easy or complicated to achieve?
Are they aplicable to all fields or are special fields particularly using Multiple authored papers? Thank you.

I agree that the Question differs in replacing "single author paper" with "multiple author papers".
My view of multi-authored papers is identical to my view of single-authored papers, namely that it depends entirely on quality.
The quality of papers is determined by the journals in which they are published, as well as the Citations they attract.

what do not like is when professors put their name on others papers, might be at the end of many names ?? not sure what their contribution is but it looks good on their outputs.
Seems to me while multiple authors are engaged with a single study, the reliablity, validity and acceptabily increases. A good work contributes to the society.
The research team is necessary when the idea of research needs more than one specialty to accomplish. For example, in the preparation of silver nanoparticles requires several researchers in the field of synthesis and diagnosis and testing the biological activity against types of bacteria and other microorganisms. In my field (applied law) single author papers are widespread and common. Furthermore I publish mostly in German.
Multiple authored papers are OK as well, but I have mostly published single author papers yet (about 150).
In my field peer-review is virtually unkown...
In many English-speaking countries, law research papers are frequently published in the academic's university law journal, where the acceptance rates are typically very high.

It's a good learning opportunity for first time researchers to learn how to apply the theory and for the experienced ones to expand their horizons from other theoretical disciplines; but of course everyone has to make a contribution towards the paper😁
Single authored papers are worth for the personal profile of the author. Usually, single authored or first authored research articles are required by authors for their career development. For example, career promotions, institutional rewards, etc.
Major advantage of multiple authored articles is the diverse range of ideas of contributors. It always helpful to improve the quality and accuracy of the research as well as the article.
It very depends on the field of work. The number of people to be involved in a project to get a result differs considerably from field to field. In more theoretical fields, a single author can achieve a result alone. In experimental fields, very often several or even many people are needed to work on a project. In scientific projects connected with satellites (space sciences), accelerators (physics) etc., the number of co-authors my increase to dozens or even hundreds, and all these really contributed to the paper by their work.

Back in our laboratory for any research we do involve more than just one student; also involves teachers and researchers that are involved with the study, by having multiple authors in one paper we make sure that every body involved in the article gets their recognition

thank you for sharing your view. That seems to be a fair approach as long as everybody has contributed.
To my knwolege it is also in some cases done in other ways: The Professor is named (for supervision) the head of lab is named because I contributed the facility or funding...
But only the really contributing researchers must be named as authors...
The multiple author papers are that, the work and credit is shared by all who are involved. A multiple authored paper is good by depending upon the particular field and work.
1. A single meaningful sudden idea/contribution can change the whole process of manuscript writing /experimentation. Hence ideas must be welcomed from all sources and therefore must be given due credits. (Multi-authored papers).
2. The present objective of the new world order seems to be inter-disciplinary dissemination of knowledge and generation of scientific debates. Hence, collaborations are necessary which produces multi-authored papers naturally.
3. However, an theoretically exclusive idea can/should be presented single authored. And it strongly depends upon particular field/subject.

Theoretical publications, such as an overview in a field, need one or two researchers, but experimental studies requires many more researchers. We should not worry about the number of researchers in a project or a scientific publication - it is important to have meaning and value for the scientific field and for society.
It is highly dependent on the specialty, however, more authors lead to more impact and research quality (integrated) and more applicable on the ground.

Multiple authors paper (more than five authors) revealed that there exist a good team. They want to help each other and get quick promotion. It doesn't mean that they are interested in research.
