I just proposed a descriptive exploratory research study on health consumers information seeking behavior. The study will explore the effects of information technology on Health Consumers’ Information-Seeking Behavior. Also, the study aims to determine the (a) impact of demographics on health information seeking behavior, (b) understanding of health and illness, (c) how do consumers seek health information, (d) what motivates the consumer to seek health information. The study findings will be utilized as bases for recommending Health Literacy Program.
I'm advising the thesis of two students of Under Graduate Program, School of Medicine "Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia".
1.- Named: " Health Literacy and related factors in patients of Internal Medicine, External Consulting at "Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza", Ministry of Health, Lima, Perú"
(Applying SAHLSA tool).
The idea is to know the level of Health Literacy; to establish diagnosis.
Is low?, Is adequate? etc.
2.- After we finish this research, we will make decision (second investigation) in order to improve this situation, applying special program.
The importance to talk about Health Literacy; is that the patients must understand the prescriptions of Medical Doctors in order to adhere to the treatment and get better.
In my opinion incorporating basic principles of health education in all levels of education and, stablished one multidisciplinar approach in under-graduated health profissionals
