Dear Colleagues, Please tell me what you think about research and articles in Arabic?. What does it reflect? Is it weak?. Is it getting enough attention from researchers worldwide?. Is the research language relevant to research efficiency?
At least an english abstract, where it is not available, would be necessary, irrespective of the language of the article, taking into account the successful dissemination of knowledge as much as possible.
Dear Mahmoud Ramadan Al-Azab it depend on your target audience. Obviously English is the largest language in the world so you might go for it but in some case you can do it in other languages too like Arabic.
It will go a long way in improvement of education of science and engineering in Arabic speaking countries of Western Asia (Gulf countries or Middle-east) as well as countries of the northern Africa.
I agree with the previous answers and I add that the Arab scientific journals have no impact factor and also there aren't any tools that know the number of citations in Arabic. This makes it difficult for the researcher to know the usefulness of his research for others.
I think that Arab research has a great scientific aspect. Perhaps there is a weakness in the marketing of researchers themselves and their research, which weakens the value of their production in addition to a range of internal variables associated with the researchers and their scientific and living standards.thanks
Nice discussion, and one point I want to emphasize is...
it's not "Arabic" specific issue, where other countries/languages i.e., Italian face a similar situation. In my Italian school we publish in English because the top Journals that dominate the field are English oriented.
I believe schools/scholars will speak (read, write, publish) the language that "dominate" the field.
Metrics of English researching is better than Arabic and very low numbers of rspective Arabic journals. I read several papers in Malaysian and translated them to English, related to Malaysian universities, I did not reach the same in Arabic journals or universities.
