Through studying history of Architecture, every civilization acts and reacts with neighboring civilizations, which is present in all life aspects including Art and Architecture.
An excellent example of Action and Reaction in Architeture is the interior Design of Hospital environment. Patient's reaction may be a relevant topic, since a comfortable situation may help for a better reaction to the disorder, acceptance of medical care and hope to significantly improve general conditions. There are some hospitals that seem like a prison and surely do not encounter patient's satisfaction. As you can see an interaction among apparent different fields may be possible and useful.
We are in front of the interaction of civilizations in the field of art, architecture and, of course, every civilization has taken from its predecessor and every civilization shared with contemporary civilization have turned out so clearly in civilization Romania, which took about Pharaonic civilization as well as the Greek civilization and not continue the series civilizations of what happened this progress that he sees the world now.
Islamic civilization has been taken from its predecessor is commensurate with the faith that gave her character distinct and transferred to Europe if the transmission is likened to a game of table tennis civilizations we find Alserv moves from nation to nation.
In art, I think in the artist Rafael lozano-Hemmer. He works always with a technological action that ends in a public reaction. Like “Third Person”, is a piece that shows the viewer's shadow revealing hundreds of tiny words that are in fact all the verbs of the dictionary conjugated in the third person. The portrait of the viewer is drawn in real time by active words, which appear automatically to fill his or her silhouette.
I found interesting what follows, so I led you know it.
In front of a work of art it is easy to get excited, try deep an identification with what is observed. One cannot remain indifferent to the pain of the victims of the "Disasters of War" by Goya or the play of light and of bodies in the paintings of Caravaggio. Looks, dramatic expressions , physicality come into the viewer, who is led to empathize with what he sees. Less obvious, perhaps, is that you have the same reaction with abstract art, which the body has little or nothing. Yet, it creates the same emotional resonance. This is demonstrated by a study of a group of researchers at the University of Parma and of Columbia University, who reveals something new about how the brain of the beholder work of abstract art does. In the audience watching, for example, cuts on the canvas by Lucio Fontana, it activates the motor cortex . An indirect sign of "power on" mirror neurons, cells of the nervous system which can explain the physiological point of view, empathy, or our ability to relate to each other.
I'm not someone with theoretical knowledge to question what can be technically defined as action and reaction in arts and architecture, but considering the physical definition of a principle of action and reaction, I think it is not possible to identify the reaction of new crops culture of neighboring civilizations, the process is more complex.
.
Generally in science-identify a reaction as something of the same intensity in reverse action, so using this concept think action and reaction is not a good place as the arts and architecture. One can identify movements of action and reaction between generations, but not between neighbors.
.
Which brings me to these considerations is the technical aspect there is always both in arts and in architecture, we could say that there are between neighbors over a process of synthesis that reaction , that is mostly seen in the architecture . Ahead of a technological innovation there is always a catch this new innovation by other cultures and not rupture or confrontation with innovation .
.
A Brazilian poet, writer, literary critic, musicologist, folklorist and essayist, Mário de Andrade, launched a modern art movement in Brazil in 1928 that said the Anthropophagous Movement (not anthropology is even anthropophagy), and perhaps through this Brazilian intellectual movement that showed the direction for national culture to "Cultural Anthropophagy", or eating up the culture of other countries allows to purge the imported culture but at the same time through a "ritual anthropophagy" if win the strength and energy of the body corporate.
.
The language of Anthropophagic Movement, which greatly shocks the current civilization, clearly shows that the incorporation of cultural traits from neighbors or even settlers can a public denial of another culture process, but organically incorporates foreign culture the culture of the country.
.
Perhaps the image of the "Cultural anthropophagy", as shocking as it is, shows that even in the negation of the values that would be something like what you call the principle of reaction there is always an assimilation within the aesthetic standards of civilization that takes the imported, but not is a mere reaction, as this is more formal than real.
.
So I do not believe an effect of action and reaction, but rather an effect of incorporating cultural traces.
Hegel believed that all culture proceeds from a thesis (action) to an antithesis (reaction) to a higher synthesis. In every sphere of culture-- architecture, painting, literature, morals, religion, politics-- except for the original work in each discipline, a work too ancient to remember, every other work reacts to an earlier one, affirming it in part, denying it in part, before making its original contribution, which synthesizes both atitudes, the positive and the negative. Mário de Andrade´s art was more original than his theory (cultural anthropophagy indeed!) because it was merely Hegelianism, passed through a primitivist filter. Salvador Dalí´s surrealism denies pictorial realism while marrying it to contemporary surrealism to produce superrealistic dream paintings.
Action and reaction, cause and a kind of consequence which can be called even free incorporation. Direct impact of styles or characteristics which permeate an age and are manifested in many objects and constructions. In Gothic Art everything went towards the heaven even the thoughts of people. However, people turned to earthly things and rediscovered ancient Greek art especially sculpture and the Renaissance was born. In the first case an idea influenced art and both together influenced the everyday life. In the second case the desire of people induced change of life and art or inversely first the art was born and the life style followed it. Now, the style of animation and advertisements determine the demands and desires of people with the “practical” aims and the fake but main stream world view(s) of these pseudo arts.
all civilizations give some of it i mean that the new civilization was effected by the previous some elements of architecture we find it in many civilization for example the arches and the column we find this in roman architecture and at the same time we find it in Islamic architecture.
the same thing we find it in the art the ornamental decorations moved from civilization to the others.
I have several times visited the mosque in Cordoba, Spain pictured in the photograph contributed by Ahmed. I am struck by the need of Catholic Spain to preserve the integrity of its Semitic past. True, the mosque was at one point converted into a church, but with minimal change. The same is true for the Synagogue of Toledo, converted into Saint Mary the White, but with virtually no structural changes. It is almost as if the Catholic heirs of all this Semitic cultural wealth feared desecrating it. I could cite many, many other examples throughout all of Spain.
Yes Dear András, I agree with you, There are some Intellectual currents which trying to blow up everything that exists and create a new visible way of thoughts and concepts.
We can discuss the other side of abstraction in Art (The bright side). When everyone could understand the abstract painting according to his own way of vision and occur different kinds of reactions.
Yes, there are a lot of, especially in Islamic architecture, which has become now in the non-Muslim communities, but examples of these communities have maintained on this architectural icon, though some changes to suit the job with the belief of some, such as the effects of Spain, but at the same time maintained the overall structure of the building.
In India, for example, see the Taj Mahal remains unchanged to date as well as the Qutub Minar either Sicily has affected some of the churches, especially the windows and decorations Islamic elements.
