How can I predict electrode reactions as Outer or Inner sphere electron transfer?
In inner sphere electron transfer electrode reaction, the redox species under investigation either interacts with the electrode surface chemically (for example, by forming transit complex with the surface), or undergoes substantial structural change upon oxidation/reduction. Outer sphere reaction is the opposite
Outer sphere electron transfer: Electron transfer reaction that involves no bond breaking or bond formation process.
Inner sphere electron transfer: Electron transfer reaction that is coupled with a bond breaking or bond formation process.

One reactant becomes involved in the outer or second coordination sphere of the other reactant and electron flows from reductant to oxidant . The two reactants must be inert complexes.
