I think it depends on a certain context. Since you are referring to classroom management, I think it is related to behaviour and disruption. I will make use of firmness and empathy at the same time. Talking with the student privately and seeing the reason behind his or her behaviour, make positive feedback for a good manner and use non-verbal signs like (eye contact) if the student misbehaves. After all, showing respect and being patient are effective in classroom management.
actually, there are protocols that are followed to help such sutudents. for exampl you can have an interview with them, to know more about their situation and then you provide the necessary help. if the source of the problem is traced to be caused by home, teachers are encouraged to goa nd talk with the parents
Have one-on-one meeting with the learners so you can find what may cause disruptive behaviour. if is something to do with learning barriers find accommodative strategies to engage the learner, set up the meeting with parents and check social factors that may make a learner to behave in a certain manner. make the SBST co ordinator of your school to be aware about learners situation and keep it on record for future interventions,
