What do mean by linear and non-linear systems in practical aspect?

Hello all,

I am from control engineering background. I would like to know that what do mean by linear and non-linear systems in practical aspect? Why all the systems in the world are considered as non-linear systems? (If possible, do explain in terms of practical example or correlate mathematics with the practical example) Suggestions regarding relevant books and research articles are welcomed.
