When superparamagnetic particles in a ferrofluid are converted to a thin-film and influenced by a strong magnetic field, they form micron-sized chains. I have searched the internet for images of these chains at the 200 nm resolution level while influenced by a field, but have not found any.

A colleague of mine pointed me to this paper that contains images of of magnetite nanoparticle chains at 200 nm. So I've answered my own question!

Seems your own question has been answered by yourself. Anyway, chains of smaller (nano) particles form naturally. Fumed silica and carbon black are 2 excellent examples. See the attached paper by NIST authors.
Also attached is a video I took many years ago of a Ni powder in water + surfactant when someone dared tell me that Ni was not magnetic - the movement is caused by bringing a magnet to close proximity of the Ni cluster. Not 200 nm resolution but close on an Olympus Mic-D.
