What determines a specific value of PRBS generator sequence length used in OptiSystem simulation software ?

Hello Everyone,

Could anyone please explain the significance of choosing a specific PRBS generator sequence length in OptiSystem simulation software.

I'm currently designing a 128 Gb/s DP-QPSK based FSO transceiver system and have used the PRBS generator sequence length of 2^17-1.

So are there any simulation parameters that determine what value of PRBS generator sequence length should be ?
