Paul: At my university, our teaching performance is based on a few factors. First, the Dean or Associate Dean visits our classroom at least once per year and observes our teaching methods. They generate a written report. That report is part of our evaluation.
Second, each student in all of our courses is asked to complete an online teacher evaluation. My university uses the IDEA form for student evaluations. More information on the IDEA form can be found here:
Third, we have peer reviews at my university. A professor from outside your field of study volunteers to observe one or more of your class and make written comments about your strengths and weaknesses.
Fourth, each professor writes a self-evaluation once per year. This is where each professor evaluates their own performance.

Thank you dear Paul for sharing your university experience. I have question about professor evaluation by students. Sometimes, students evaluate negatively a teacher because he gives less marks or give more homework and projects, ... what do you think about this evaluation?
I think the evaluation criteria through the level of the student as well as the research provided by the teaching in addition to attending seminars, workshops and conferences have a role in the annual assessment of teaching.
The teaching methodologies adopted by the teachers, their knowledge in the subjects handled by them, their communicarion skills, periodic inspection by senior professors, industrial visits arranged by them, the number of students they inspired or motivated to participate in seninars conferences and in writing research articles etc.
I support the advanced views of colleagues, teaching and research at all levels, as any institutional work periodically needs evaluation and evaluation to know the current situation and from starting to development, and can be done through reports of internal and external consultants and evaluation forms of students, And can be done through reports from internal and external consultants and evaluation forms from students, It is important to have a department in the Ministry of Higher Education dedicated to quality control and reliability, familiar with what is being done in the advanced universities, and works to study what is appropriate to the local situation
It is a broad and complex subject, and generally, the achievement of high quality standards can only be achieved through the work and activities (teaching and research at all grsdes) that are planned and implemented within the educational institution that offers the educational programs. In keeping with this principle, the process of quality assurance and academic accreditation of educational institutions depends on the self-evaluation of the institution itself according to accepted standards of good practice in general, and verification of the results of the evaluation by an independent external auditor.
There are Performance Evaluation forms available for the Assesment of College and University Teachers. Evaluation forms includes Various Activities Lectures delivered Attendence Research Publications Others. My point is that the evaluation score should not be assesed by single assesor it should be assesed by a team or various people seperately to remove Bias. Regards
I think the level of student achievement and the application of what he actually learned and the level of understanding and progress in the knowledge of students
I think the quality of education and the quality of laboratories, the number of workshops and conferences in the specialty and the number of research published in Scopes or Thomson Router
The scientific outputs of the research, the performance of the students and their comprehension of the teacher should be an important indicator in assessing the performance of the university professor
Thank you Sadanand Pandey , Mohammed Thabit Salih Al-Zubaidi , Marwan Khaleel Yousif , Syed Asad Ali Zaidi , Luay Abdulwahid Shihab , for your contributions to this discussion.
We have a questionnaire for the teachers each year which includes the activities of the scientific professors and his interaction with the students on the basis of which is the annual calendar which has an impact in the scientific promotion
I believe that the level of the student and the efficiency and nature of the goals that have been achieved will suit the requirements of the parties concerned or customers.
Ideally, it should be students' success and achievements together with lecturer personal achievements (publications, participation in the conferences etc).
