What could be the reason why my field readings indicated an indirect relationship between water electric conductivity and water temperature?

In my 24 hours field investigation, I noticed an inverse relationship between stream water temperature and electric conductivity. Using excel, the correlation is also strongly negative. All the readings were taken in the same spot continuously for 24 hours. Could there be a valid reason for this type of relationship?
