We have a D8 Bruker advance X-ray diffractometer

1) We have a new X-ray tube, and a newscintillation detector, but the intensity of the diffraction peaks is very very weak, and the XRD spectrum is very noisy.

2) The service engineer says the Goebel mirror has probably gone bad, since it is nine years old, and therefore we should buy another one which is damn costly -35,000 USD.

Do you think Goebel mirrors can go bad.

3) Maybe our Soller slit is misaligned, and the Goebel mirror as well.

I will be grateful for your tips, because we don't have an AMC for the instrument, and service department of Bruker is really unhelpful, with all their experienced service engineers leaving the company.

I would be grateful for some valuable tips.
