I'm developing a numerical oil flow simulation based on a zero-inertia approximation for the surface flow coupled with a proper viscous stress law (I'm assuming that turbulent stress is not enough for this purpose). Based on a fast literature review i think that the simplified Bingham model could be an adequate choice. What do you think? Thank you very much .

Thank you for your answer Ahmed. It is an interesting document, but i am looking for a different application (free surface flows). In particular, I wish to use a zero-inertia (or Diffusion Wave) model combined with an appropriate friction law in order to take into account the viscous stress.
In my opinion the problems are uncoupled. The diffusion wave model is just a way to approximate DSV equations. The choice of a constitutive law should concern the kind of liquid you are dealing with. Anyway, you'll find useful a reading of Dr. Victor M. Ponce works. Concerning your specific question, the Bingham law would only describe the plastic shear strain: a linear model should be included as well.
