I noticed that under the trees in my garden the lawn is very "clean", no bio diversity. What chemical(s) produced by the tree do(es) keep the lawn clean?

The clean part follows the vertical projection of the canopy on the floor, so it seems not to be a matter of shadow. Therefore it looks like as if some chemical flows down from the canopy or is washed down by raining.

Trees are: plum tree, oak tree, maple tree, and birch tree.
