I have been doing rheological studies on oil-wax mixtures. During rheological experiments I try to crystallize the wax between the geometries. I have observed that there is always an oil layer on top of the sample and the crystallization does not go to completion no matter how much time I give or how low the temperature is. I have tried different geometries like glass but the problem still persists. Can anybody enlighten me with what actually is going on? Also, please suggest some literature on the mechanism of oil entrapment between wax crystals. Thank you.
