Dear friends,

I'm working on 26MnB5 Hot rolled steel, micro analysis reveals the presence of C/Mn segregation along with the ferrite / pearlite bands.

I analysed the segregation area , segregation area predominantly has Mn and I also found Martensitic structure. (Image attached for reference)

I would like to understand if its only Mn or other alloying elements (say Ti) that would have led to formation of martensite even at a lesser cooling rate(curve shifts right).

what are the ways to overcome this issue ?

Ideas / comments / suggestions are welcome.

PS: Mn - wt% = 1.26%

Thanks,

Vinoth.
