There is little you can measure with the magnet, I guess. But you can use it as part of a set-up measuring properties of specimens in an applied field. Such a magnet can potentially be used for a large variety of different experiments. Do you know what it was originally built for?
Thanks a lot. We ordered it to a company and they produced it. Our aim is to measure magnetoresistance. Are above values are adequate to study something? I wonder this. And how?
Well, for a MR-setup you will probably want to build a 4 probe measurement setup, equipped with a suitable current source and voltage measurement. Ideally you also design an appropriate computer control.
My suspicion would be that variation of specimen temperature might also(soon) be on your wish list. An appropriate setup for this will have to fit between the magnet polesand have ho be built from really nonmagnetic materials.
These days many labs choose to purchase so-called PPMS (Physical properties Measurement System) and to have it equipped by the supplier rather than building the System by themselves.
Finally of course, good samples and the design of suitable specimen geometries and contacts may prove essential for your research. Much of this depends on the type of materials you are targeting.

So, to obtain a curve like in page 2193, I have a very restricted limits for my four probe system at 300K.

Well, If you think of Fig.1, you would be getting just 1 point of each curve.
With respect to Fig.2, you would get one of the curves for each specimen, yes.
For the temperature dependent measurements, you need a variable (and probably low temperature, in particular) sample environment, i.e. a cryostat. There are specialized suppliers who produce very slim ones for the kind of applications you have in mind. 2cm between the poles is not much but I'd be surprised if you didn't find a cryostat that fits.
You might also want to consider the volume of homogeneous magnetic field between the poles. You will have to ensure that your samples are placed there irrespective of temperature (but I guess that cryostat builders take care of that) and that your specimen size does not exceed the limits of that volume.
you could build a VSM and characterize saturation magnetization. For multi-ferroics, you could characterize magnetoelectric effect.

yes. VSM at room temp can provide a good deal of information about certain materials. It's not VERY difficult to add in some thermal control to get a slight excursion in thermal properties.
This is a VERY basic setup that I've used fairly reliably.
