Spring wheat & barley lose seed germination energy by >5% per month (from >95% at harvest till 30-60% at April-May). Hormone treatment helps a little (restored to 60-70%). It is wide-spread and has no correlation to fungi found on and in the seeds. Pseudomonas sp. (mostly syringae) is present from 1 to 10%. Is it a herbicidic effect of bacterial toxins, water loss or something else?
