Europe is among the top tourist destinations worldwide. Some destinations, such as seaside or ski resorts, only operate for part of the year. What needs to be done to coordinate property owners, utility owners, local businesses, schools, and government to leverage these facilities off-season to house refugees? What are the economic, cultural, and environmental impacts and opportunities of such action? What needs to be done to create a sustainable, win-win situation for all parties involved? What types of interdisciplinary projects can universities undertake to contribute to serving refugees?
