Removal of mangroves can have many different impact as a result of the loss of the ecosystem services that they provide, such as nursery and habitat for many different marine species, shore line protection, prevention of salinity intrusion, source of food for many species (both directly and indirectly) etc, I suggest you read the review of "Biology of Mangroves and Mangrove Ecosystems" available on one of the authors -Brian Bingham's webpage http://faculty.wwu.edu/bingham/docs/mangroves.pdf

it is a very good starting point, a bit ancient now perhaps but worth reading and they have section on the anatomy of mangrove trees which will help you familiarise yourself with the different parts of the mangrove tree

The mangrove forests are known to serve various socio-economic and ecological functions especially in the coastal communities.  For instance, they provide breeding grounds for fish species and provide numerous non-wood products that contribute to rural livelihoods.

The use of wood  from mangrove species for charcoal production involves the cutting down of the trees (deforestation) which in turn prevents the mangrove forests from playing its ecological roles. The degree of the impact of charcoal production on the mangrove ecosystem will to a large extent depend to the extent and intensity of mangrove deforestation. Deforestation of mangroves for charcoal production will adversely affect its capacity to serve as a breeding ground for fish, and its role in climate change mitigation and adaptation. 

The role of mangrove forests in climate change mitigation has been acknowledged the world over. Annual  mean carbon sequestration rate of the mangrove has been known to exceed those of the terrestrial forest ecosystems like the tropical rain forest, the temperate rain forest and the boreal forests. Donato et al. (2011) estimated that mangrove deforestation generates emissions of 0.02–0.12 Pg carbon per year—as much as around 10% of emissions from deforestation globally. 

Also mangrove forests and other marine and coastal ecosystems like sea-grass meadows, mangroves, and tidal marshes, provide services that aid adaptation to climate change impacts along the coast. These services include prevention of shoreline erosion, protection from storms and sea level rise, regulation of coastal water quality, and food security for many coastal communities around the world.

Many mangroves in the world are rich in biodiversity. The dense mangrove forest can protect the human habitation and lives from extreme weather events resulted from climate change. So, deforestation of mangrove trees for making charcoal  is not desirable which will bring negetive impact on tree density in the forest. We should keep intact mangrove forests for a good habitation of wild animals, birds and fishes.
