What are your thoughts on the distortion and related problems of the scientific impact factor?

It is reported that the value of the scientific impact factor may be misleading

It is inded a growing problem. I suggest you should read the enclosed paper. If you share the author's idea you'll find more papers on this argument.

Anyhow, some auhtors increase the own scientific factor by quoting papers from the 'group', which are not so good ar offer new infornmatiom , but any citation increases the scientific factor.
