Under graduates, no matter how many times they are told continue to use social media for information on the course/timetabling/assessment hand ins etc. They chant the same mantra every year:
"there is some confusion over the assessment we have to do"
My reply will be "from where is this confusion coming?"
"Its on Facebook" they will say.
"I do not use Facebook" I tell them repeatedly so the confusion is not coming from me.
Even though I make it crystal clear that instructions on Facebook are to be ignored they still continue to seek them there. Even more remarkably, where colleagues who use Facebook do put handbooks and instructions on it they ignore those and focus only on the chit chat and rumour. Social media is definitely not a useful tool for teaching.
