Professional evaluation is an ineluctable task for most members in any scientific community. Deciding whether a candidate deserves a fellowship, a job position or a grant, more than her/his colleagues may be crucial not only to optimize the use of the available resources but also to set standards of professional quality. Therefore, identifying the best possible criteria is crucial for all committees of evaluation. However, the selected criteria will vary depending on the scientific field involved.

My students and I are exploring how scientists and academics from different fields currently deal with this kind of situations. I hope you can share your opinions based on your experience in your country's scientific evaluation system.

Note: I will share (and disuss) your opinions and experiences with my students and colleagues (some of them may even upload their answers here) as part of our lab´s theme discussions. If we bring this up in a publication, we will explicitly acknowledge you by name unless you tell me otherwise.
