Hi all, I m a Master Students. I need to perform Normality Test in my study. I have 5 independents variables and 1 dependent variable. Each independents have 6-8 questions and dependent variable has 8 questions in total.
My question is do I need to compute the variable into Mean score or Total score before perform the Normality Test. Or I just list down all the questions for each variable in the independent list and factor list?

Following your explanation, I guess that your research problem is in likert-type scale. If my guess is true, computing the mean score or total score is the best way. Note that all normality test procedure work poorly for ordinal-scaled data such as likert-scale type.
Before summing up these question, don't forget to check that all questions are valid (and would be used in your research) and answered by the respondent. If you use a preferable/non-preferable questions, the code should be modified at this time.

I think normalit is used to see the distribution of your data. Normality is a condition when performing regression.
