There exist significant spring back in conventional sheet metal forming processes (namely deep drawing, bending and stretching) compared to non-conventional forming processes. Reduction spring back using tool compensation and stress superposition are important topics. In non-conventional forming like sheet Hydroforming and Electrohydraulic forming process (to name a few even though more non-conventional forming process occurs), one of the main advantages are reducing spring back of the deformed sheet. What are the scientific reasons behind the reduction of spring-back for non-conventional forming processes (very little spring back compared to conventional forming processes)?
