I'm wondering if anybody is conducting any research, or for that matter has found any valuable research, linking Asian concepts of "Face" and Risk of Failure, Failure and Innovation. The literature appears sparse.
I left my question purposefully vague and all-embracing as even risk of loss of face assessments in personal life decision-making may be of some relevance, but my research concerns potential loss of face as a limitation on risk-taking, so innovation, in business.
The literature on the concept of 'face' and its relation to failure in Asia is not as sparse as may seem at first glance. A search on Google Scholar with the string produces aproximately 541,000 results, which should keep you busy for a while. Good luck with your project.
Many thanks, David. Clearly your key wording was way more successful than mine. I suspect the "voice" of experience. That said, maybe magic fingers too. What a weirdness. I copied and pasted your string and got 168, 000 odd results! Never mind, more than enough to keep me going for two or three years.
You're welcome, Mark. I just repeated the search on Goocle Scholar and got 1,680 results, 10% of yours; then I did the same with plain old Google and got 498,000. I probable made a mistake at some point, but however you look at it, cyberspace is a bizarre universe! (I suspect the regional variable has something to do with this, in addition to possible human errors.) Anyway, your research question is interesting and I am sure you will find a lot of interesting material.
Probably my mistake, David. I was quite excited at the time, as an article thrown up early in the list was as close to direct relevance as I think I'll ever find. Well, it was either that or the palpitations were to do with how much the publisher wanted for two days view time!!
If the article can't be found on Academia or ResearchGate, it is possible to write directly to the autor and request a PDF copy. This has worked for me a few times in the past. (:o )
