What are the pros and cons of sharing preprints of academic researches that did not pass peer-reviewing?
Since we all know the benefit of peer-reviewing in academic researches and scientific publication, what are your thoughts on sharing preprint documents in different platforms? What are the pros and cons? To what level can we use preprints as references?
They should not be published in any form because they did not pass peer review. If they had passed, then they would be in a journal, so it makes no sense to then try and publish them if they failed. Also, they are not preprints. Preprints are papers that pass peer review
the idea of preprint is to provide significant information to readers while the manuscript being reviewed. but if it is rejected then try another journal
Biniam Getachew , I believe the major issue resides if the paper didn't get accepted in the journal to which it has been submitted, as not so many journals accept to publish manuscripts uploaded on preprints websites.
