My work has to focus on capturing the text from natural scene highly degraded images. Will I get any suggestions to proceed my work

its quite subjective, what do you want to extract from that scene? what do you mean by degraded images? in which direction you have to proceed. please explain the problem in detail to get any suggestion. Otherwise you have to start from denoising or smoothing of image depending upon the requirements.

Here are many ways to perform a per-processing on a pure database. two of more used methods are histogram and mean-value procedures. some times a combination of both procedures could lead to a more efficient procedure.

-mean normalization

-feature scaling
