Hello,

We are designing a solar car and we are trying to figure out very roughly what is the minimum suitable battery pack to run our vehicle. What we have is:

- 250kg total mass with passenger (excluding batteries).

- BLDC hub motor (specs attached)

- Motor controller (specs attached)

- 12V 40Ah for 20 hr deep cycle gel batteries (12kg)

- 4 solar panels 18V 170W

Our requirements:

- v=8.4 m/s

- a=1.2 m/s^2

- Car runs for 30-60 mins

I did some very rough calculation:

F=ma=400*1.2=480N

P=F*v=480*8.4=4032W

T=F*r=480*0.1778=85.344N.m

How many batteries of the specified specs do we need to run our vehicle for 30-60 mins? I would appreciate if you included the formulas used.

Thank you,

Karam Robeil
