In Brazil exist one large experience with submit the Opuntia ficus-indica and Nopalea cochenilifera, in animal nutrition in northwest region, in dry seanson and semiarid region in Northwest. Please check the publications papers in Brazil and EMBRAPA Ovinos e Caprinos and EMBRAPA Semiárido

En Algérie, cette espèce est bien marginalisée et aucune valorisation n'est faite quant à ses potentialités thérapeutiques ou cosmétiques. Autrement dit , aucune exploitation n'a été mise en exergue. Cependant, dans les zones les plus infertiles et très désertifiées, les habitants ont recours à cette espèce comme fourrage en période de disette. Le fruit également est largement apprécié.
