what are the possible ways to make Horizontal and Vertical polarizations of light using various optical components???
If I am doing one scattering experiment with light ...what are the different possible techniques to make Horizontal and Vertical polarizations of
1. Incident light ( before scattering)
2. Reflected (or scattered) light (After scattering)
and How we can distinguish it??? Or How we can confirm ( or test ) the polarization of the light for both the cases??
I should mention one more thing ...I am doing scattering experiment on some crystals with specific shape and orientations... and I want to understand the polarization conditions with respect to the crystalline axis....

When manage experiments, you should care about your source of radiation for incident light. If it is a laser, then you already have in most cases linear polarization. If so, you can put a Lambda/2 plate, and rotate it to change to angle of your polarisation. You can check the obtained polarisation comming out of the Lambda/2 plate by putting polarizer in the beam and see, for which position of it most of the light comes through.
If your source is unpolirized - use polirizer first, and then apply technique described above.
For scattered field, you can use a polirizer placed before your analizing detector, this way you can analize only polarization of interest.

Please have a look in the book I suggested above and let me know if you do not find what you have mentioned above. If you can be more specific in your question, it would be easier to help then.
If you intend to understand polarization phenomenon is general, then the book by Ghatak should suffice. but if you are into a specific type of crystal, then you might have to look into appropriate references.
Hello Sivadasam, i think you are doing Polarization Imaging? Can you please explain your question ? As you know after scattering from any scatterer it is very difficult to describe it final polarization states. Can you tell me how much size of your crystal??
I think all of your's question can be answered after reading a standard book on the polarization ,"Field Guide to Polarization" by Edward Collet.

Thanks Pandey G. Polarized Light by Goldstein is really nice book. But the question is that how to define polarization parameter in Evanescent field after scattering? even after knowing size and crystal system of the Particle under study, it is hard to explain.. In Field guide there is some explanation about Reyleigh but i think there is no explanation for Mei scattering.
Dear Vadim Vorobyov, I have understood your answer. But in case of incident ray if we don't have polarizer and we can not detect the direction, then after scattering also we can not confirm the direction of electric field vector..For example, if the electric field vector in my incident ray be X or Y, after polarized scattering it will be either XX/XY (in case of incident X) or YY/YX(in case of incident Y) depending on incident polarization..So, how one can confirm the incident ray polarization!!
I should mention one more thing ...we are doing scattering experiment using Ranisaw UK, So, if anyone knows how to confirm incident ray polarization,please share..
I think I understood the situation correctly, so I'll try to help.
The method that I would use to test polarization angle is the same one Vadim Vorobyov mentioned.
I'll also point out that if your light isn't completely polarized, you can measure the amount of polarization in two perpendicular directions by finding the angle of the polarizer that allows the minimum or maximum amount of light through and taking power measurements of the light with and without the polarizer in place.
If you don't have a polarizer, maybe you can make one? If you have microscope slides or other thin pieces of glass you can try to make a Brewster's angle polarizer or parallel plate polarizer. It might not be perfect, but it should be good enough to allow you to figure out the angle of your linear polarization.
