The microalgae consortium I am dealing with settles down very fast compared to other available algal strains in my laboratory. Under microscope, two strains are clearly visible: round (Chlorella may be) and elongated (Scenedesmus may be).
This auto-settling property makes it suitable for biofuel production as it will save the harvesting cost. But, what are the possible reasons behind showing such property and what studies could I perform to justify it?
