Other solvent systems would be include 1-butanol such as

1-butanol-pyridine-water

1-Butanol-methanol-water

1-Butanol-acetic acid-water

but according with Frank T. Edelmann the combination of solvents chosen will depend on the compounds you want to separate.

Depends on you compounds, you may need to add 1% base (TEA) or acid (HOAC ) to move you compounds up on the TLC plate. The solubility of the compounds also need to be considered.
