The meaning s clear:
ceramic body (powder) before sintering = green body
ceramic body after pre-sintering = white body
But recently one of my students asked me: “Why the green body is called green?”
My only guess is “green” as “native” or “fresh” similar to the term “green behind the ear” (similar to green tomatoes).

I could be that this dates back to the time when ceramics were made primarily from clay minerals. Clays often have a coulour changing between brown and green so that this was the colour of the shaped products before firing. Gyorgy Banhegy's explanation could also be true.
