AI is going to play vital role in forthcoming period in health care industry , part of life science. Hybrid methods (Neural network , robotics, fuzzy )will optimize the system accuracy. Matlab, Octave provide best platform for working.

I feel the answer for this question is not easy, since the application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning methods depend mainly on the specific problem/issue under study.

Convolutional Neural Network is the best available method in field of disease diagnostic based on image processing.

I agree with Ayman Amin, that it is not easy to specify a single method. Depending upon your specific problem you can use either a single method or a hybrid of these approaches. The popular methods are Neural Networks, Genetic algorithm, Nature inspired algorithms like particle swarm optimization, ant colony optimization algorithm, simulated annealing, cuckoo search etc.
