Hi, I am trying to optimise culture conditions for my cell type. I normally use DMEM F-12, however it contains high glucose, while I need low glucose medium. Do you suggest me to use DMEM low glucose medium, or to buy 2 separate mixture of the DMEM F-12 to mix together to obtain a final one?
My main concern is that I have a DMEM low glucose from a different company. However it differs from DMEM F-12 for some components (like HEPES and glutamine).
Which media components are important for cells? Unfortunately every company has its own media formulations, so not sure what to do.

Hi, I recommend that you buy the DMem medium with low glucose content and supplement with the components to arrive in the DMEMF12 medium, all manufacturers provide the media compositions and it will be easy for you to supplement the medium you want. I've done supplementation in similar situations and it worked.
If your concern is only the glucose, then you can probably use the low-glucose medium. Also, you may buy the supplements you want and mix them in the required concentrations. I did that before and it worked.
