Is it possible to grow a very thin single crystal. I want the growth to happen only in the lateral direction while in the horizontal direction, I want to rescrict the growth to only ~1 micrometer thick. In the lateral direction I want to grow the crystal to ~1cm. If the crystal structure is cubic, the crystal grows equally in both laterally and horizotal directions. Are there any methods to grow with the above mentioned requirements either in solutions or on thinfilms?
