Someone knows which is the maximun preheating temperature in forging and casting metallic dies? I saw an paper where in forging titanium alloys the preheating is 800°C? This temperaure is possible? Why?
Generally in forging and casting metallics dies are in steel alloys, so the maximum preheating temperature is aroud 300-450 °C. But when you work in isothermal forging process you can use superalloys for the dies. And so you can work with a die temperature equal to 1000°C, but this is for aeronautics applications ... And you must use special gaz or work in vacccum process ...
