In my opinion, the most important issue in the process of reducing environmental risks and environmental compatibility is: "Ecology is better than economy"
In the last two decades, it has been increasingly recognized that having subnational disaster risk reduction strategies or plans that complement the national policy framework is a requirement for a functioning risk governance system.
I think about that this is a task where the goverments have the greatest responsability,in addition to the necessary partcipation of the comunity, together we can achieve sucess if we work as a team.
In order for any information to be actionable, it has to be; first and foremost, understandable. Any discussion of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation that fails to connect with the masses-- the end-user and largest action partner needed to scale up climate action and disaster risk reduction, is a missed opportunity. We need science to be relatable. It needs to be spoken of in a manner that reaches out to the common man and makes it easier for him/ her to connect its implications to his/her daily life, livelihood, and wellbeing. It needs to be seen both as a matter of individual and collective survival. But, in order for the common man to take action and become able partners in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, they need to not just make informed decisions, they also need tools and resources to implement these decisions. All of these point to the need to empower individuals and communities, giving them their due space and own voice at the proverbial table, to shape the processes, policies, and outcomes related to disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
