The main focus is to have clear objective(s), adequate methods, logical interpretation of findings followed by a definite conclusion.

In my opinion, lack of proper research funding, inadequate laboratory facilities and poor research supervision are the three main problems of young researchers.

Any type of financial support or assistance is the major problem of young researchers.

Young researchers must bank on experienced senior researchers. When they write proposals for funding, they can enlist seniors with good CV as co-principal investigators. Of course, the idea is the prime deciding factor, but the funding agency must be satisfied in the ability of the youngster in tackling problems.

For the young researcher it is possible to find a neglected topic and a mentor to help with the definition and funding. It is important to find collaborators to help with research and gain credibility. Results should sometimes be a little surprising to the peers.

In a long career the back of my file cabinet held a folder of topics that I would have worked on if I had time and some idea of where to start and what to look for. Occasionally one of the topics came out of the file and became a project for some younger colleagues as additional insight was gained.

A few times in a career something substantially new and important should be discovered, and a visible step made forward in the major field. It requires some quiet time working alone, and some group time with input from others.

Many young researchers find work in support of industries, where there are usually enough topics, and seldom enough researchers. The results are measurable in financial reports. A few smaller successes bring support for larger work.

It is quite obvious for funding agencies to take chance for young researchers but if some senior researchers endorsing the same will be easy to trust. Secondly some new innovative idea click for the industry oriented may many times gives edge to new researcher.

Young researchers main problems are lack of fund, well-equipped laboratory , Lack guidance or motivation for research and funding agencies are not accepted their research project for funding.

If a person is getting due respect and a good job after doing the hard work then definitely he will do the best possible work in terms of research paper publication and all.

The main issue is job security ... once people are confident of getting a job they will put everythong for and on his phd.

In my opinion, young researchers face the challenge to get funding while competing with the already experienced intellectuals, however, if they get a good mentor or even look at the unexplored opportunities, getting fund is not a real problem. Getting associated with a project to get hands on experience or taking small projects at early phase may equip the young mind to go for larger funding. It is not a problem if attitude is there along with aptitude. I do not agree with Subir Bandyopadhyay . Talent alone do not decide the fate of a young researcher, but the laboratory facilities available, mentors and quality of going on in the lab greatly influences a young researcher. Keeping an broad view and eyes and ears open greatly shapes the career of anyone. Particularly in developing countries like India where scientists try to work in solitude getting a good mentor is difficult and so also the opportunities avaliable to the early career scientists and researchers as pointed out by Partha Sarathi Swain. This is real as pointed out by Asinamai Athliamai Bitrus. So the situations vary from person to person and place to place

The STRONGEST problem of most of the young researchers is getting effective time and concentration for research.

Most of the time is expensed in different social media. When forcefully they want to bring their mind to research, the depth of concentration can not reach to the desired level.

So, copy paste research and data manipulation research become the alternatives.

In our area, the term 'Goggle baba research' (research performed under the umbrella of father - goggle) is famous for that reason.

Lack of proper mentorship is one of the main reasons for this. A mentor in my opinion should be able to bring the mentee to a point where he/she can be independent. if properly trained and nurtured i think the mentee should be able to withstand any challenge. As a young researcher myself I think that there are some problems that have to be addressed. I think that Arvind Singh hit some good points. I am a master student and therefore the funding I receive comes from my institution. I got funding as I came in, but some of my peers weren't so fortunate. There is a lack of fundings given to institutions, and laboratories. This is for sure the main problem; there is never enough money to reach all of our dreams and ambition.

Another problem I see myself and other student researchers face the lack of help that is given to us. I understand that our research director is not there to babysit us and make sure that everything is okay. But in my case, our technician has way too much work being thrown at him. Some of us are beginners, we read articles, and everything seems relatively easy, but once we get into the lab, we realize that it isn't always a piece of cake.

From my personal experience, the lack of help sometimes creates deeper problems in the research. The lack of quality can, of course, come from a lack of funding, but also from a lack of guidance, or help when it's needed. We are not experts yet, and to do everything in our project sometimes require us to go a little bit less in depth which can lead to substandard quality as you said.

In my project, I have a lot of preset parameters to look at. From the literature I read, I have many questions that arise, and many other parameters I would like to look at that could influence what I do, but there is also time guidelines that have to be respected, and all the already set parameters. I understand that having guidelines is good, or else I would have been completely lost from the start, but I also think that having compromise during the project to look into some new direction can also be good.

I agree that this is a good approach. During my undergrad, I did some research, and we had weekly meetings in which a few students talked about their research. Often, other students or professors gave good insight to help the student advance in their research.

As of now, as a master student, I have monthly meetings with my director where we talk about my progress and what has to be done. Those meetings are good to help me stay on the right path as for the experimental plan and data analysis. Where I have some difficulties is sometimes I am scared to express my need for basic help. First, scared of asking a stupid question. Also scared for asking for compromise when I want to modify the "plan" as it always results to even more work that has to be done.

The other type of help that I seek is in the lab. The technician does a great job at helping, but we are about 35 students all rushing to try and get to the finish line. We all need help in our own way, and he only has two hands.
