Can we say that the theory of a numerical method is a type of applied Math. ?

Does the phrase "Applied Math " refer to subjects in math or applications of other sciences ?

In general, "applied Math." refers to the applications of Mathematics by other sciences and engineering fields. Thus, applied mathematics is a combination of mathematical science and specialized knowledge.
