What are the main differences between MODFLOW & FEFLOW?

I am comparing the two software's and i trying to understand the differences between them.

What i know is that MODFLOW uses the finite-difference method while the FEFLOW uses the finite-element method, could someone please explain why is that important and what are the Advantages and Disadvantages of each of them.

I would be grateful for more information regarding the differences in the mathematical equations and flow methods used by the two software's.
