I am trying to involve science , in particular Physics, into Strategic Management studies for my master thesis . There are a number of papers discussing this topic but in such a fast changing global business one might face new challenges in business every single day. So any interesting topic to consider???

Yours is an interesting question. I think that there are two huge trends: firstly, the increasingly widespread realisation that strategic management needs to deliver more than competitive advantage as this can (and often is) destructive for people and/or planet. Rather responsible strategic management is needed but it is often difficult to integrate with conventional strategic models.
The second huge trend is a growing realisation that resilience, responsiveness and fast, prudent decision making is needed in the never-ending process of managing strategically. Reflecting on this, I recently wrote: "Leaders who adopt agility as a strand of their organisation’s strategy are, in effect, saying: ‘we do not know how the future will unfold but we will be ready to do what it takes to be viable whatever happens’. This stance is different from that taken by an organisation that sets a long-term goal and works relentlessly to achieve it. An agile organisation’s strength is rooted in its capacity to react intelligently to situations that cannot be fully predicted. Benefiting from changing circumstances requires superior situational responsiveness; an ability to be prudently opportunistic, robust threat avoidance and taking active steps to be future-ready. Each of these bundles of activities requires leaders to decide: ‘what is important, and not important to us now?’ ‘What do we need to do to win in the foreseeable future?’ ‘How can we be special in the changing context?’ What must we do collectively to create value faster than cost?’ And ‘How do we act responsibly for all of our stakeholders?’ The path will not be easy. In most types of agile organisations the benefits of standardisation decrease and the requirement for ad hoc initiatives increases. Hands-on and capable agile-friendly leadership will be needed to align and attune decision-making and to develop deep execution capability (the ability to get things done).
